2025 Swim Team Parent Meeting Info
Welcome to the Gator Swim Team 2025 season!
*(Change- Parent Jobs will be open for signup on June 2 @ 11am for new families to become familiar with the job descriptions and ask questions prior to opening)
This is our fabulous Swim Team committee, Abby Wolf, Megan Hendriks, and new members, Sandy Kubacki and Wendy Ireland. Sandy and Abby will be around in the mornings for questions and guidance during practices. Wendy is in charge of our Spiritwear and will be sending information for purchase.
Megan Hendricks is in charge of our Gator Grill but we need to find someone else for next year. She will be happy to train someone this year. Megan has organized the garage to store our food. Please consider taking this over for next year. It would involve picking up food previous to home meets and setting up the Gator Grill. Mechelle takes care of ordering everything!
Sandy will be our volunteer coordinator. She oversees the forms and volunteer deposits. Once the volunteer obligation is fulfilled, she can return your check or we will destroy it. And it is one volunteer deposit per family.
All our coaches are returning this year! We have Brittany, Lia, and Ophelia, yay!.
I will use the push notifications and Facebook for immediate communications. Please make sure you are signed up for push in Swimtopia. I will use that platform to cancel practice or go with our Plan A, B, C for weather conditions. Other information will be emailed via Swimtopia. The practice Plan A, B, C is listed in Swimtopia
The Swimtopia app has our practice schedule, swim meet schedule, links to important information. Typically, user friendly but we can also help if you can’t find something. You will find job descriptions listed in there, along with helpful information Swim Meets 101.
Deadlines to declare swimmers. You can go in right now and declare your swimmer for the season and make adjustments if you need to before the meets. Friday night is the cut off to declare your swimmer for the following week of meets. This will allow the coaches more time to get swimmer and relays together. It also allows time for adjustments before we send our entries to the other team. The volunteer opportunities/job openings for the meets are open now.
Volunteers, please please. Watch the links provided regarding Official Training. We also need starters! It’s not as bad as one might think and we’re here to help!
We require 5 volunteer shifts during the regular season and at least one if your child is competing in championships. Volunteer spots will be open for each meet. You will sign up much like you declare your swimmer, under jobs. We will be opening JOBS after the first practice, June 2 @ 11am. We absolutely want to give everyone an opportunity to fulfill their volunteer hours so please let us know if there is a conflict. We ALWAYS need help throughout the season.
Spirit Wear is being set up by Wendy. I will post the links on Facebook and Swimtopia when they are available.
I will have the swimsuits to try on for sizes at the first practice. I will leave the suits at the pool in our garage to try on. Ophelia, Maddie, or a swim team committee member will be there for assistance. The Lifeguards do not always know where we keep our swim team items. We have a new style this year. The link is now posted on Facebook and Swimtopia to order your suits via our vendor, Swimville.
We ask each family donate a case of water and brand name pop and/or Gatorade to the pool. Let us know you did so we can mark you off. Megan and Sandy will have a clipboard to sign you name or you can email that is has been dropped off. You can drop it off at the GVRC garage. We ask these be dropped off the first week of practice.
Fees and Volunteer Checks, All forms should be turned by June 2. Please see Sandy for further information. (See registration page for more details.)
Britney will make herself for Q & A during Fun Day Friday. If you have any questions about Disqualifications, want to learn how to be a Stroke and Turn judge, she will be there!
If you have suggestion or any concerns regarding the swim team, please direct those to me. I will be happy be address those with you. Please do not approach the coaches as they are observing your kids during practice and meets.
We have a few fundraisers that will be happening! We hope to set up some more with local restaurants. We will also be doing another Butter Braids fundraiser. The forms will be available at the front desk and first practice.
Please be patient while we still work with your swimmer. I promise, this will be a fun season for all! The first week of practice will be evaluations to what skill level each swimmer is.
I will be sending an email to see if there is an interest to participate in the Fourth of July parade. If we have enough participants, we will do it again.
Swim Team photos have not been scheduled. I believe last year we were ready for the team photo at 9am but I will update everyone when we schedule. There is no practice on photo day, no wet kids in the photo until it's over! Please RSVP for the photo shoot so the photographer can anticipate how many kids will be here. It’s not imperative but it will be good information for us.
